Questions & Answers
Are scheduled Daily Visits offered in inclement weather?
If Northwest Missouri State University is open, all campus tours will proceed as scheduled (rain or shine). However, we prioritize your safety and comfort and strongly encourage students and their families to use your best judgment and reschedule the visit if necessary. If the Northwest campus in Maryville is closed (or closes early) due to hazardous conditions, the campus visit will be canceled. We will notify everyone who is scheduled via text message or email as soon as possible.
Campus operations can be monitored anytime by visiting the University Police Department’s website as well as official Northwest social media accounts.
If you are traveling to Maryville from the Omaha-Council Bluffs area or I-29 South, please review!
It is recommended that you avoid using popular navigation or map apps that suggest taking the fastest route to Maryville via HWY 59, which goes through Fairfax, MO. This route consists of three one-lane bridges and hilly, windy roads. To reach Maryville safely, it is advised to follow the second or third suggested route when using navigation maps.
When will I receive details about my upcoming Daily Visit?
You'll get an email from CampusVisitDesk@nwmissouri.edu with your itinerary and parking permit 10 days before your scheduled visit. If you can't find it, check your spam folder. If you still can't locate it please do not hesitate to contact Tricia Collins, Campus Visit Coordinator, and/or Stephanie Smith, Campus Visit Assistant. We will either resend the email or provide you with all the necessary information.
Where will my scheduled Daily Visit begin?
Daily Visits all begin at Mabel Cook Recruitment and Visitors Center, located at 524 University Dr, Maryville, MO, 64468
The Visitors Center is on the corner of College Avenue (4th Street) and University Drive.
How long should I plan for my visit ?
Plan for a 2-hour visit that includes a 90-minute walking tour and a 20 to 30-minute meeting with a Recruitment Coordinator. If you want to meet with a representative from your major, please allocate an additional hour of time. This option is only available during a Daily Campus Visit on Monday-Friday when classes are in session.
How do I request to meet with a representative from within my major?
You can request this meeting when you register for a Daily Campus Visit and plan to spend extra time on campus! Meeting specifics will be provided when you check in on the day of your visit and are generally within one hour of your campus tour.
*Please note that meeting with a representative in your major is available Monday-Friday, when classes are in session.
Can I bring my family or extra friends with me on tour?
Yes, we'd love it! If you and your friend(s) register for the same date/time, we need each registration to include the name(s) of the student(s) that will be on the same tour.
During my visit, will I learn about Financial Aid and Scholarships?
After your campus tour, you will have the opportunity to meet with an Admissions Recruitment Coordinator. This meeting will take about 20-30 minutes and will cover all the essential details about admission requirements, scholarships, and financial aid. This is an excellent opportunity for parents/guardians of juniors and seniors to learn about timelines and important deadlines!
